This Briefing has been prepared to support trade unions’ mobilisation for the International Day of Commemoration of Dead and Injured Workers, on 28th April, which is focusing this year on the need for removing exposure to hazardous substances.

(esta no es la traducción oficial – estoy esperando las sugerencias de los traductores)
Para información, vamos a empezar a enviar las actualizaciones nacionales la semana que viene, así que por favor envíenos sus planes tan pronto como sea posible.

Nous sommes en train de finaliser les détails pour les actions, les materiels et les communiqués de presse pour cette année. Nous avons beaucoup de belles choses dans les tuyaux! Comme vous le savez, nous vous invitons à soulever dans vos activités les questions liées au thème de cette année (enlever l’exposition aux substances dangereuses sur le lieu de travail). L’appel de la CSI /Hazards sera : TRAVAIL TOXIQUE – ARRETER LES EXPOSITIONS MORTELLES MAINTENANT! (ceci n’est pas la trad officielle… j’attends de voir ce que suggèrent nos traducteurs)
Pour info, nous allons commencer à envoyer les mises à jour nationales dès la semaine prochaine, donc veuillez nous envoyer vos plans dès que possible.

We are finalising details for this year’s actions, materials and media releases. We have lots of nice things in the pipeline! As you know, we are inviting you to raise issues related to the theme for this year (removing exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace). The ITUC/Hazards public call we’ll be using: TOXIC WORK – STOP DEADLY EXPOSURES TODAY!
For info, we’ll start sending the national updates next week, so please send us your plans as soon as possible.

Los sindicatos de la ICM es movilizarán alrededor del Día Internacional de homenaje a los todos los trabajadores (as) que han sufrido accidentes, lesiones y muertes por motivo de sus labores diarias de trabajo – 28 de abril de 2015. Sabemos que los sindicatos hacen el trabajo más seguro. Al tener una fuerte representación en el lugar de trabajo, con representantes de seguridad de los sindicatos, podemos asegurarnos de que los empleadores cumplan con las leyes y reglamentos de seguridad y traten a la fuerza de trabajo con respeto. Esta es la máxima prioridad para nuestro Manifiesto de Salud y Seguridad 2015.

Les syndicats de l’IBB se mobiliseront autour de la Journée internationale de commémoration des travailleurs – le 28 Avril 2015. Nous savons que les syndicats rendent le travail plus sûr. En ayant une forte représentation dans le milieu de travail, avec des représentants syndicaux de sécurité, nous pouvons nous assurer que les employeurs respectent les lois et règlements de sécurité et traitent les travailleurs avec respect. C’est la priorité absolue pour notre Manifeste sur la Santé et la Sécurité 2015.

The theme for Workers’ Memorial Day 2015 will be “removing exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace”, global union confederation ITUC has announced. The union body says the theme includes an opportunity for unions to highlight chemical-related hazards, asbestos “as well as the Ebola virus and other potentially hazardous biological exposures.” It adds slogans, twitter hashtag suggestions and other communication tools will be posted on the ITUC/Hazards 28 April webpages. Europe-wide, the ETUC has already announced it will use the 28 April event to further its campaign on hazardous substances.

I hope you have started the year full of ideas and energy to concretise them! I’m writing you to start with the preparations of our 28 April 2015. We would like to suggest a focus on “removing exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace”.
This will allow us to highlight the need for addressing chemical-related hazards, asbestos as well as the Ebola virus and other potentially hazardous biological exposures.
Slogans, Twitter hashtags, suggestions and other communication tools will be developed in the coming weeks and will be posted on the ITUC/Hazards 28 April webpages.
