Peru: Meetings and forums on work safety to mark 28 April

FTCCP  will hold an International Workers’ Memorial Day Forum on musculoskeletal disorders affecting construction workers, demand to reduce the weight of cement sacks to 25 kg, decree Nº 011- 2019-TR Safety and Health at Work Regulations for the Construction Sector. The 2 hour forum will have as speakers lawyers, ILO experts and trade unionists. The target audience is composed of workers and trade unionists.

FENATIMAP will hold a 28 April safety awareness meeting.  They will hold a discussion on work safety and health for 20 forestry workers and technicians of the Export Wood Trading Company Tahuantinsuyoin in the locality of Manantay, La Chacrita, in Pucalpa, Amazonian region of Ucayali in Peru.

CATP says: “April 28 marks the International Day for Safety and Health at Work, therefore our commitment to training and monitoring compliance in favor of workers in the country.”

Brazil: Unions plan multiple activities to mark International Workers’ Memorial Day

Unions are planning a large range of activities to mark 28 April including:

SITICOP: In Minas Gerais, Brazil  the union will bring to attention the  increase of work-related accidents, its implications for society, preventive action and safety awareness campaigning.

SINTRACONST: Seminar on a safe and healthy workplace: preventing workplace accidents and harassment. The seminar will be promoted by the trade union alongside public authorities to press for safer workplaces.

FETRACONSPAR: The union will erect billboards in the six main cities of the Parana state publicising Intenational Workers’ Memorial Day. There will be demonstrations in Curitiba and Londrina remembering the victims of work-related deaths and demanding safer workplaces.

Panama: Safety officers manual launch webinar on 28 April

BWI affiliate LAC is conducting webinar to launch the publication of a new Manual for Occupational Health and Safety Officers.

The union will also raise awareness about safety and health as an ILO fundamental right and prepare trade unionists to promote occuaptioanlsafety and health in the worplace.
