Workers’ Memorial and May Day Mobilizations Join to Highlight<\/em>
\n Disproportionate Injuries and Fatalities to Latino and Immigrant<\/em>
\n Workers, Immigration Relief, and Fair Wages<\/em><\/p>\n

Los Angeles – The Los Angeles Workers Memorial and Los Angeles May\u00a0Day Coalition, two strong and diverse networks led by workers, labor,\u00a0community organizations, immigrant rights and health and safety\u00a0advocates, and allies gather in Los Angeles\u00a0Tuesday, April 28, 2015\u00a0to: a) highlight occupational health and safety trends
\ndisproportionately afflicting immigrant and Latino communities, and
\nb) issue a call to action on\u00a0May 1, International Worker’s Day, in
\nLos Angeles during back-to-back press conferences.<\/p>\n

The\u00a010 a.m.\u00a0dual program at the West Steps of Los Angeles City Hall
\ncommemorates fallen and injured workers and kicks off efforts to
\nengage thousands in the historic May Day gathering of people downtown\u00a0Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Injured workers, community, faith, labor, economic justice, and human\u00a0rights organizations, along with immigrant families, will provide\u00a0testimonies and urge Angelinos and other stakeholders to do more to\u00a0create injury-free and fatality-free workplaces, and to join the May\u00a0Day march, rally, and, new to 2015, an immigration resource fair at\u00a0Grand Park.<\/p>\n
